J. Paul Getty (December 15, 1892 - June 6, 1976) was an American industrialist and founder of the Getty Oil Company. Getty was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, into an oil family. He was an avid collector of art and antiquities, and his collection now forms the basis of the J. Paul Getty Museum in California. He moved to England in the 1950s, where he lived and worked until his death. |
